The 2022 9u Ohio Independence team started the youth movement of OI this past year. This team absolutely loves baseball and showed up to each practice and game with a level of innocence and pure joy for the game. The 9u team was truly a new team. None of the kids had played travel ball at 8u. Add in the fact that at the ripe old age of 9u, these kids began to play high school rules such as kid pitch, lead offs, dropped 3rd strike advancement and no run limits in a given inning. The learning curve was steep but the kids battled and competed in 27 games. The development and ability to learn the game was awesome to see. The team capped the year off with an end of year tournament in Indianapolis at the PBRT World Series in July where they played teams from all over the Midwest.
